Diversity & Inclusion

A Culture Designed to Celebrate and Embrace Diversity

The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine culture embraces and celebrates the multiple dimensions of diversity. Our culture is designed intentionally to promote respectful, innovative exchanges between students, staff, and faculty, analytical reflection, and compassionate, ethical decision-making as means to demonstrate and develop cultural competency.

We are devoted to recruiting, training, promoting and retaining the best individuals to deliver high quality medical care to an increasingly diverse patient population as part of an increasingly diverse work force.

An Inclusive Medical Learning Community

The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine facilitates and promotes its diverse and inclusive medical learning community through pipeline programs, student support and interest groups, educational programs and community outreach events.

We are mindful of our mission to serve our community by addressing health care disparities locally and nationally.

In our Diversity & Inclusion logo, the capital letter "I" links Diversity and Inclusion to remind us that everyone at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine is responsible for sustaining and promoting our culture.

Everyone should believe that I - I personally - am responsible for a culture that values diversity as a strategy for achieving excellence and culture that embraces everyone in our medical school community.
