Not sure where your career interests lie? Dive in and start exploring career fields in engineering, computer science, criminal justice, social work, business, medical fields, psychology, education and much more. This camp will introduce students to the various high-growth, high demand jobs of the future. To learn what career professionals in these fields do on a day to day basis, students will participate in hands-on activities such as building a light bulb, developing a business strategy for their own company, as well as simulation exercises. Students will visit Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe to learn about health and medical careers in nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, imaging, laboratory, and more.

Go beyond business basics in this camp where students learn what it takes to launch and run their own enterprise. Students will participate in an extended group project to develop their own unique product and create their own company. Along the way, students will engage in hands-on activities to learn the skills of a successful business person such as communication, time management, decision-making and planning. The camp will wrap up with a field trip to the Macomb-OU INCubator where students will present their final projects to a panel of professionals. Students will receive feedback and tips to help them understand the competitive world of business and the skills needed to succeed.

In this interactive camp, students will travel to Oakland University’s new Human Health building to explore the various career opportunities in the nursing and health professions. To learn about the various career opportunities and specialties in nursing, students participate in hands-on activities in state-of-the-art simulation labs focused on medical/surgical techniques, intensive care, pediatric and neonatal intensive care, and obstetrics. Students will also explore the growing fields of medical laboratory sciences, nuclear medicine and radiologic technology and specialty fields such as histotechnology and cytotechnology. Students will also be engaged in hands-on activities to learn about careers in exercise science, nutrition, wellness promotion, and much more.

Explore exciting and in-demand careers in the fields of industrial, systems, mechanical, computer and electrical engineering, and computer science. Students will also delve into the emerging fields of biomedical and alternative energy. Hands-on activities and simulations such as constructing a solar panel and building electronic motors and assemblies will engage students as they learn about career options in this growing field. Students will also travel to Oakland University's campus in Rochester for an extensive alternative energy tour and visit the Clean Energy Research Center. It’s never too early to start thinking about college. The interactive sessions in this camp will help students explore various careers and college majors, understand the differences between the higher education options available, and identify tools they can use to discover their dream college. Attendees will also learn how to begin preparing for college while in high school with AP, IB, Dual Enrollment and preparation for the ACT, the basics of financial aid, and how to search and write scholarship essays. This three-day camp will wrap up with an interactive college tour of Oakland University's campus in Rochester.
