Akiko Kashiwagi-Wood

Akiko Kashiwagi-Wood received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and started her tenure-track faculty position at Oakland University in 2011. Her principal research interest is second language (L2) sentence processing. Especially, she is interested in how working memory constrains non-native speakers’ sentence processing in reading. She is also interested in first/second language acquisition, the effect of study abroad on foreign language learning/acquisition, and Japanese/foreign language pedagogy. Her teaching responsibilities at Oakland University include all levels of courses in the Japanese program, such as Japanese language, grammar, and translation.
