2013 International Conference on Romanticism
The 2013 meeting of the International Conference on Romanticism returns to metro Detroit and Oakland University (site of the 2008 meeting). In keeping with the spirit of the ICR, the conference organizers wish to focus on the cross-disciplinary and international aspects of Romanticism. This year's conference theme is "Romantic Relations," which should be interpreted in its broadest context to include relations among, between, and across genres, national and racial boundaries, families, species. Potential topics could also include colonial, class, and labor relations, philosophical and critical relations -- and more.

This year's plenary speakers are:
  • Doris Kadish, Distinguished Research Professor Emerita of French and Women's Studies, University of Georgia
  • Ron Broglio, Associate Professor of English, Arizona State University
  • Fred Burwick, Research Professor Emeritus of Humanities, UCLA
The International Conference on Romanticism was founded in 1991. The fundamental aim of ICR form its inception has been to pursue the study of Romanticism without favoring particular linguistic, national or political traditions, or academic disciplines, either explicitly or implicitly. For more information, please visit the ICR website.

We are grateful to the sponsors and supporters of ICR 2013: the Oakland University Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Departments of English and Modern Languages and Literatures.
