We know that students of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine have unique living needs. Convenience, quiet and privacy are paramount to those with intense and busy schedules like yours.

The George T. Matthews Apartments offer large, 900-square-foot, town-home-style units located in the heart of OU's beautiful campus. Featuring a furnished living room, a bedroom with a desk and extra long twin bed, a complete kitchen, plenty of study space and parking right outside your door, the apartments are a premium shared living experience.

Each apartment offers a spacious retreat for two medical school students who are paired with regard to personal preferences and habits, such as how and when you like to study, your feelings about guests, and your preferred level of cleanliness.


FEATURES OF THE MATTHEWS APARTMENTS

  • Private entrance and patio
  • Kitchen appliances, including a stove, refrigerator and dishwasher
  • Central air and heat
  • Window treatments

In addition, the apartments offer the following services, free of charge:

Cable Television
Basic cable is included in the rent for Matthews Apartments. To access the service, you mush have a cable-ready television with a coaxial cable. Satellite dishes are not permitted.

Internet Service
Students living on campus can access the wireless network to connect to the university's computer system, Internet, email, discussion groups and other computer data resources.

Laundry Service

The Matthews Apartments have two central laundry rooms with three washers, three dryers, a laundry sink and sorting table in each one. Laundry service is included in the rent, therefore, the machines may be used free of charge.

The rates below are per student for a two bedroom apartment unit, and do not include meals.

*Please note: new residents are required to move in after August 1. Housing fees will be pro-rated accordingly

OPTIONAL MEAL PLANS
Those living in the student apartments are able to purchase individual meals in the Vandenberg Dining Center. They may also choose to purchase one of the following voluntary meal plans:

Block Meal Plan
Those electing to purchase a block meal plan can choose between 35 meals or 50 meals at the Vandenberg Dining Center during any given semester*. Remaining meals carry over from week to week until the end of the semester*. To purchase a voluntary meal plan, visit the Student Apartments Office in the 4000 building of the Ann V. Nicholson apartments, or purchase your plan online.

Declining Balance Meal Plan

Those electing to purchase a Declining Balance Meal Plan may choose between a $250, $500 or $700 plan during the fall or winter semester* that will allow you to eat any any dining facility on campus. Each meal cost will be deducted from your remaining balance. Unused declining blaance dollars do not roll over from fall to winter semester*. Chartwells Food Service will retain any declining balance dollars not used by the end of the semester*. To purchase a voluntary meal plan, visit the Student Apartments Office in the 4000 building of the Ann V. Nicholson apartments, or purchase your plan online.

*Please note that here, semester refers to the regular academic year semesters, not the modified School of Medicine semesters.
