Meal Plans

Whether you are on the go, an earlier riser or a casual diner, Oakland University offers a variety of flexible meal plans to suit the needs of each student.

All students, whether they live on campus or commute, can take advantage of OU’s meal plans. With each plan, you pay for meals in advance and use your student ID card when or wherever you want to eat on campus.

Oakland offers two different meal programs:
Food also can be purchased on campus using OU Spirit Cash.

Board Meal Plans
Each student living in the residence halls must select one of these three meal plans, which are included in the total cost for room and board. The room and board cost is the same regardless of the meal plan you select.

These plans give students the opportunity to eat at any of the dining facilities on campus. Arrangements also can be made for box lunches and sick trays.

The board meal plans allow students to eat at Vandenberg Dining Center, the primary food facility for residence hall students. Students are permitted a maximum of four meals per day. These plans also include meal transfer options to purchase food in the Pioneer Food Court and declining balance points (meal dollars) to be used to purchase food at any food facility on campus. Note that one declining balance point equals one meal dollar.  Unused declining balance dollars roll over from fall to winter semesters, but Chartwells will retain any declining balance dollars not used by the end of winter semester.

The three board meal plans are:

 Block 285 Plus 50 Plan
285 meals each semester in Vandenberg Dining Center, an average of 18 meals per week
Three transfer meals per week in Pioneer Food Court
50 declining balance points (meal dollars) per semester to purchase food at any Chatwells food facility on campus on the basis provided for in the agreement
This plan is ideal for the student who eats the majority of their meals in Vandenberg Dining Center
Block 210 Plus 100 Plan
210 meals each semester in Vandenberg Dining Center, an average of 13 meals per week
Three meal transfers per week in Pioneer Food Court
100 declining balance points (meal dollars) per semester to purchase food at any Chartwells food facility on campus on the basis provided for in the agreement.
This plan is ideal for the student who enjoys the variety between Vandenberg Dining Center and the Pioneer Food Court.
Block 150 Plus 250 Plan
150 meals each semester in Vandenberg Dining Center, an average of 9 meals per week
Three meal transfers per week in Pioneer Food Court
250 declining balance points (meal dollars) per semester to purchase food at any Chartwells food facility on campus on the basis provided for in the agreement

Voluntary Meal Plans

You can sign up for a voluntary meal plan in the University Student Apartments office, located in the 4000 building of the Ann V. Nicholson apartments. Faculty and staff members may also purchase also purchase voluntary meal plans, and can do so online. The voluntary meal plans are:
