Biography:

Erin Dwyer earned her Ph.D. in American Studies from Harvard University in 2012, where she taught a number of courses on gender and American history. She specializes in 19th-century American history, particularly the history of slavery and the Civil War. She is currently adapting her dissertation into her first book manuscript, entitled Mastering Emotions, which is under contract with the University of Pennsylvania Press. Dr. Dwyer spent the last two years teaching at Tulane University in New Orleans, and she is eager to bring her knowledge of Cajun cooking to Detroit.
