The Honors College at Oakland University was established to support high achieving students to achieve all they can achieve.
Some honors colleges talk about being the best. We at The Honors College at Oakland know what really matters, and what really makes an honors college "the best", is to give students the best support. We do that when we focus on your aspirations, not on making claims about what we are. Suffice it to say, therefore, that The Honors College at Oakland University is one of the most established honors colleges in the U.S. It was founded on the principles set out by Matilda and Alfred Wilson, when they donated their entire Meadow Brook estate to establish Oakland University.
Those principles are that aspirational and talented young people can benefit from the personal interest of high quality faculty and staff, and that with the right support and the right atmosphere such high achievers can achieve anything they aim to achieve. We seek to provide that kind of support for you, the kind of support that makes a truly top ten honors college.
We draw on our past and we look to your future so that our students don't just talk about what someone tells them is the best, they show what is the best through the work we support them to do and the things we help them achieve.
