Interning in a United States Senator's office is a wonderful educational opportunity to learn more about our American government and the legislative process. Senator Stabenow welcomes interns in her Washington DC office and in her six Michigan offices. Senator Stabenow looks forward to giving interns the opportunity to expand their knowledge of our nation's history, while experiencing government service first-hand.

Congressman Gary Peters

District Office - Detroit

Working in a Congressional office can be an incredibly rewarding and exciting experience. An internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and observe first-hand how our government operates. Interns gain practical work experience by undertaking a variety of administrative and legislative responsibilities in the office.

Interns in the Washington office draft constituent correspondence, attend briefings and Congressional hearings and prepare memoranda for me and members of my staff. Interns in the Michigan office conduct research, assist with constituent casework and draft correspondence. Interns in both offices assist with answering phones, data entry and general office systems operations. Interns are an important AND VALUED part of my staff.

Internships are available expressly for the purpose of furthering educational objectives, therefore they are unpaid and usually awarded to graduate and college-level students.
