2014 Michigan SOGI Education Conference: Proposal Submissions

Deadline Extended through SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15. 

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2014 Michigan SOGI Education Conference. This year's conference has three objectives:

  • Promote PK-12/university dialogue about important issues involving sexual orientation and gender identity.

  • Provide PK-12 staff, teachers and administrators with opportunities to inform and influence how schools/colleges of education are preparing pre-service teachers and administrators to effectively address these areas of difference.

  • Identity ways that schools/colleges of education and community-based resources can assist PK-12 practitioners in effectively meeting the needs of their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex (LGBTQQI) students, staff, faculty and administrators.

We are currently accepting proposals for 60-minute concurrent sessions and 130-minute workshops that align with the conference objectives and actively engage participants in critical dialogue and reflection. The Call for Proposals will remain open through Saturday, November 30, 2013. DEADLINE EXTENDED through SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2013!!

In addition to their individual session/workshop, presenters will also be assigned to host a roundtable discussion from 1:00-2:00pm. These roundtables are designed to facilitate informal conversations, networking, and opportunities to interact with presenters outside of their structured session/workshop.

To complete this online submission process you will need to have the following information available:
  • Name, institutional/organizational affiliation and contact details for each presenter
  • Type of presentation:
    • 60-minute concurrent session
