J. I. Lougheed Master's Award Application

Jacqueline I. Lougheed has made a generous gift to provide one award of approximately $500 annually to a student pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Students enrolled in this SEHS program may apply.

A committee will select the recipient based on exemplary student achievement, dedication to educational leadership, recommendation letters, and personal and professional goals. The winner will be notified of the award by mail.

In addition to submitting this online application, please also mail in 3 recommendation letters (2 from department faculty and 1 from an immediate supervisor or school principal at your place of employment) to the following address:

It is strongly recommended that you first type and edit your response in a blank Word document, then copy and paste into the field. Essay should be at least 500 words.

If you are selected as a recipient, you will be held to these agreements. Your application cannot be considered without all four statements being agreed to by the applicant.

I authorize the School of Education and Human Services to obtain a copy of my transcripts from the Oakland University Registrar’s office.
If awarded the scholarship, I will thank the donor by writing a thank you note and be willing to attend donor-related events such as the SEHS Leadership Celebration.
I represent that all information I have provided in this application is correct and true to the best of my knowledge.
I understand that if I fail to meet the above criteria for the award, the award will be rescinded and given to another eligible student. I will then be liable to pay back the full amount of the award to Oakland University.
