Hispanic Celebration 2013 @ Oakland University - September 13 – October 15
It is a long-standing tradition at Oakland University to recognize National Hispanic Celebration Month during the month of September to celebrate the history, politics and culture of Hispanic people, locally and globally. We hope that you enjoy the diverse programs being offered from September 13 through October 15 and encourage all OU students, faculty and staff to attend as many of this year’s programs and activities throughout the month as possible.
PANEL: “THE CHANGING RELIGIOUS LANDSCAPE IN LATIN AMERICA”
Moderator: Dr. Henri Gooren- Associate Professor of Anthropology
Participants will discuss the increased religious diversity in Latin America and analyze the impact of new religions (like Pentecostalism, Mormonism, and charismatic Catholicism) on everyday life. In addition, they will comment on the connections between religious change and other forms of change, such us in family relationships, moral and social attitudes, civic participation, and the mass media.
