Three-Year Academic Plan
This is a breakdown of how a student, knowing they wanted to be a English major upon entering OU, could complete the General Education, College Exploratory and major requirements within a 3-year period of time. This plan is an example only and not a guarantee of course offerings.
*Based on minimum ACT of 16 English or AP/IB/CLEP equivalents.

British Literary History Elective is chosen from, ENG 354, 355, 357, 358, 370 or 371. American Literature Elective is chosen from, ENG 317, 318, 319 or 320.
*Normally completion of WRT 160 is a pre-requisite for ENG 211; however, we assume that students in such an accelerated program are sufficiently motivated and prepared to take 211 while they complete WRT 160.
**While the major requires a total of 24 credits at the 300-level, the department assumes that students in such an accelerated program will prefer to take 300-level electives rather than 200. However, that option remains open to them so long as they complete the basic 24. The term “elective” may not be completely “free” in that this table does not address the university requirement of having 32 credits at the 300/400 level.
Please note: Student on scholarship or financial aid must be in a minimum of 12 credits per semester
