Holly Shreve Gilbert, a professional journalist, has been teaching writing and media design at Oakland University since 1994. She also serves as the professional adviser to The Oakland Post, the independent campus newspaper, and is the chief curriculum adviser for the journalism program.

She is captivated by digital technology and the endless possibilities it offers for journalistic storytelling.

Gilbert, who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication from Western Illinois University, also has a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Oakland University.

She lives in Rochester Hills with her husband, Garry Gilbert, her 19-year-old son, Jackson, their clown prince standard poodle, Hugo, and two mutt cats, Pandora and Governor.

In her spare time, she likes to run, swim, paint, read and watch anything touched by Aaron Sorkin or starring Vigo Mortenson, Catherine Keener or Colin Firth. She also is very fond of traveling, especially to France.
