Shannon Esselink, M.A. 
Director of Advising Services
All CAS Majors

Shannon Esselink is the Director of Advising Services in the College of Arts & Sciences. She has been in higher education for over 17 years. Shannon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Shannon strives to provide the best advising services for the College of Arts and Sciences students through the numerous committees she serves on in addition to her active daily role in the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office, whether meeting with students, faculty, or staff. 

 

Kelly Kort , M.A., L. L.P.C.
Academic Adviser
All CAS Majors

Kelly Kort earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling at Oakland University and has been advising students since 2012. She strongly believes students should maximize their college experience by taking advantage of all the wonderful resources offered by Oakland University. As an adviser, her goal is to collaborate with students on their path to success: academically, personally, and professionally.


 


Anne Jackson, M.A., L.P.C

Academic Adviser
All CAS Majors

Anne Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science in Clinical/Community Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University.  She has been in the field of advising and counseling for 20 years, with 13 of those years serving as an Academic Adviser at OU.  Anne feels strongly that students will gain an advantage by following their passion and utilizing their strengths.  She advises students to take charge of their academic career by planning ahead and connecting with a faculty member on campus.  Her goal is to help students  take advantage of all the great opportunities that exist on OU’s campus so they can discover and meet their academic, personal, and career goals.   




Krista Malley, Ph.D.
Senior Academic Adviser
All CAS Majors

Krista Malley is one of the Professional Academic Advisers. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Northern Michigan University, Master of Education in College Student Affairs Leadership from Grand Valley State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University. She has been in higher education for more than 17 years in a variety of roles focusing on the success of students.Krista's goal is to encourage students to get engaged and invested in their major while preparing themselves for their future.


Matthew Prentice, M.A., L.L.P.C.
Academic Adviser
All CAS Majors
Specialty: Music, Theatre, & Dance

Matt Prentice is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors. He wants to encourage students to make the most of their college experiences both inside and outside the classroom. He earned a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. Matt has been advising students at OU for the past six years.


Melodi Schuchmann, M.A.
Academic Adviser

Specialty: Music, Theatre, & Dance

Melodi Schuchmann has been a Professional Academic Adviser at OU for over 10 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. As a COM101 instructor, Melodi is committed to helping students develop their own unique keys for success. Her “go to” piece of advice for students is to take advantage of all the opportunities for growth on-campus; it’s up to each student to make the most of their OU experience!



Ann Selva, M.A. L.L.P.C. 
Senior Academic Adviser 
All CAS Majors
Specialty: Music, Theatre, & Dance

Ann Selva is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors and specializes in Music, Theatre, and Dance. She wants to motivate students to reach their goals by working hard, getting involved, and making meaningful connections on-campus. Ann earned an Associates from Oakland Community College, a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. Ann has been advising for over four years.


Nancy Gursin
Part-time Adviser
All CAS Majors

Nancy Gursin is a part-time Professional Academic Adviser seeing all CAS majors. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Valparaiso University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. Nancy has been advising for two years at OU.


Shannon Stribling
Office Assistant II

Shannon Stribling is an Office Assistant II and is one of the first friendly faces students see when arriving. She earned a certificate in Clerical Office from Baker College. Shannon’s knowledge of the university and resources, make her an incredible asset to the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office. She has worked at OU for over four years and in higher education for over eight years.


Sheri Rourke
Secretary I

Sheri Rourke is a Secretary I serving primarily in the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office who is here to help answer any student questions that come her way. She earned an Associates in Business Administration from Schoolcraft College, was in the finance and operations management field for 15 years, and in K-12 for five years before coming to OU.
