Employee Wellness

Oakland University Employee Wellness strives to support the enhancement and maintenance of Oakland University faculty and staff’s quality of life. In collaboration with campus and community resources, our goal is to provide you with valuable educational programs, resources, and activities that support your personal goals to live a healthy lifestyle.

Wellness programming is open to all Oakland University employees to participate.

Employee Wellness Incentive Program

The goal of Be Well Points+ is to provide you with the opportunity to earn points through participating in wellness programs throughout the semester. Turn in your points toward an item of your choice that will motivate you to improve or maintain your healthy lifestyle. Be Well Points+ is an incentive program for all Oakland University employees. This is a program you must enroll into every year in order to earn points and receive incentives for wellness programs that you participate.

There are a number of ways to earn Be Well Points+ throughout the semester on Oakland University’s campus. If there is a wellness opportunity taking place, we encourage you to submit a BWP+ Program Points Request Form. If approved, the upcoming event you are planning to attend will be another opportunity for you to earn points towards incentives of your choice.

Below, you will find a list of Wellness Programming for the summer 2014 semester for which you are able to earn points. Next to the event/class/program, you will see an associated point value, and if applicable, the maximum amount of points you are able to earn for that specific program. You are eligible to earn a maximum of 200 points per semester.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet it's one we too often skip...or we rely on not-so-good-for-us staples like sugary cereals, not-whole-grain bagels and breads, or low-fat flavored yogurts (which have more sugar cup-for-cup than Coke). Fortunately, it only takes a little advanced planning to have a delicious and healthy start to your day, whether it's breakfast at the table or on the go. We'll share tips, ideas, and some handy Label Reading 101 shopping skills.

Dinner can be daunting--after all, it's The Main Meal. But dinner also offers plenty of time and money-saving opportunities. During this class, we'll focus on ways to make food prep easier, how to save on grocery dollars (it costs less to eat better!), how to make the most of leftovers and pantry staples, and how to use classic appliances like that trusty crock pot you've got crammed into the back of your cupboards. Dining at home costs less, is better for you, and is a great way to unwind at the end of the day.
