SE 590: Topics in Special Education
SAIL registration for current OU graduate students

This course will introduce educators to one of the largest disablers of children in the United States. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can affect a student’s motor, communication, cognitive, behavioral, social-emotional and/or sensory functioning. Outcomes range from complete recovery to severe challenges. The type and location of the insult, the immediacy of appropriate medical care or treatment, length of rehabilitation, patient's age, and number of prior injuries, all contribute to the critical nature of assessment and evaluation.

Data gathered will help guide educators with instruction, as well as, direct and/or indirect support and services needed for students who sustain a TBI. Resources for further information and support will be provided.
