How to Apply for the Accelerated Summer 2012 Online Program
Overview
- This program is designed for both general education and special education teachers
- 24 to 40 graduate credits, depending on prior credentials
- The cohort group will take 6-8 courses over five terms
- Completion of a practicum is required
- All credits may be applied toward the Master of Education in Special Education degree
- OU has been educating teachers of students with ASD for more than 25 years
- Team of expert faculty and special lecturers deliver instruction

Admission Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Michigan elementary or secondary teaching certificate
- Potential for success in the program

Option A (24 credits)
| Requires an applicant to hold a prior special education endorsement in Michigan. Meets state requirements for the teaching endorsement in ASD. |

*Practicum may be done in the student's own classroom, if appropriate. The Department will consider
students' work obligations and assist them in meeting this non-waiveable requirement.
Option B (32-40 credits)
| Requires an applicant to have a valid teaching certificate in the State of Michigan. Option B is for teachers who do not currently have a special education endorsement. This program meets state requirements for the ASD teaching endorsement. |
