Student Organizations

Graphic Design Club

Graphic Design Club is an organization on campus dedicated to the visual arts. that discusses the work and styles of great designers, designs material for our school and events, holds competitions, helps each other grow as designers and, most important, has FUN! This club aims to build a strong presence and community on and off campus for its members, by providing workshops, field trips and other opportunities.

Makers' Club

Join the future in this interdisciplinary group where student artists, designers, engineers, programmers and makers of all kinds can collaborate on projects such as robots, interactive games and kinetic sculptures. Makers’ Club began in the School of Engineering and Computer Science and last year expanded to include the Department of Art. We use technologies such as microcontrollers, camera vision, 3D printing and laser cutting; we are a community learning these new skills together, so you don’t need specific skills to join the group. We’re looking for creative, hard-working, community-minded people who want to make innovative projects. All Oakland University students are welcome. Club projects are showcased every year at Maker Faire Detroit, an international event held at the Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI each July, where the club received two “Maker of Merit” awards in July 2017.

Faculty advisors are Colleen Ludwig , Associate Professor, Department of Art specializing in New Media (, and Dr. Khalid Mirza, Director of the Chrysler Robotics Laboratory and Special Instructor in Electrical and Computer Engineering (

Meetings held on Fridays, 5-7p.m., at the Makers’ Studio, the garage attached to the Police and Support Services building.
