2013 Michigan SOGI Education Conference
3/9/2013, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Oakland University’s School of Education and Human Services’ Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Initiative will host the 2013 Michigan SOGI Education Conference. This conference brings together preK-12 educators, teacher educators and community advocacy organizations to improve educational opportunities for all Michigan youth, regardless of actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression. Participants will engage in a rich dialogue facilitated by leading experts, share resources and identify best practices. Together, they will plan next steps toward creating safer, more welcoming and inclusive schools. This year’s conference will include hour-long concurrent sessions and roundtable discussions focused on meeting the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex students, staff, faculty and administrators. The 2013 conference offers a full day complete with breakfast, lunch, and opportunities to reflect, network, and plan for the school year. Full details are available on the conference website at
