Meadow Brook Lecture in International Affairs

"Gender, the Laws of War, and the Civilian Protection Paradox" presented by Dr. Charli Carpenter from the University of Massachusetts. Charli Carpenter is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. The author of four books and a score of articles in leading journals, Dr. Carpenter’s research and teaching focus on national security ethics, the laws of war, gender and political violence, humanitarian affairs, and human security. She has served as a consultant to the United Nations, contributes to both Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy magazines, and blogs at the popular international affairs site Duck of Minerva.
