Financial Planning and Investment Event
4/12/2014, 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM
Oakland University students in the Portfolio Management course (Finance 417) are offering financial planning and investment advice at no cost to Oakland University alumni on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The students will have finished virtually the entire course and already been tested on previous financial/investment plans that they have proposed. Their plans are based on state-of-the-art investment/planning analysis taught by Professor Austin Murphy (who has published almost one hundred practical academic articles and over a dozen books on finance and investment), and they even include use of his financial planning software that is very similar to what is used by a Nobel Prize winning financial planner.
There is no obligation for participants to follow the advice provided, and it is naturally not guaranteed to obtain any particular investment return or financial goal. The software lists probabilities of attaining particular wealth levels and meeting particular spending plans. The only information needed by the software are the expected annual spending before retirement, the number of years to retirement, the targeted retirement annual spending, any special planned spending before retirement, and initial wealth levels (excluding the primary residence). All dollar amounts estimated are in today's dollars (the program adjusts for inflation).
To register for your free financial planning and investment advice appointment, please contact Maria Willett, student engagement and outreach coordinator, at (248) 364-6121 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
