Hispanic Celebration Month: Opening Ceremony
9/13/2013, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Hispanic Celebration 2013 @ Oakland University - September 13 – October 15
It is a long-standing tradition at Oakland University to recognize National Hispanic Celebration Month during the month of September to celebrate the history, politics and culture of Hispanic people, locally and globally. We hope that you enjoy the diverse programs being offered from September 13 through October 15 and encourage all OU students, faculty and staff to attend as many of this year’s programs and activities throughout the month as possible.
Guest Speaker: Kurt Metzger, Director of Data Driven Detroit, will be talking about the growing importance of Hispanic communities in the State of Michigan. Dr. Metzger will discuss how the make up, age, education level, and geographical location of Hispanics throughout Michigan has changed in the last few years, and what we can expect to happen in the following decade. Data Driven Detroit provides accessible, high-quality information and analysis to drive informed decision-making.
