Business Beyond the Basics, Camp for Teens begins

Oakland University invites high school students to explore careers and prepare for college in interactive summer camps.
Students will explore various careers through interactive, engaging sessions that include hands-on activities, field trips and presentations. Presented by Oakland University faculty experts, the sessions offer students:
- a comprehensive look at current and emerging fields
- highlights of the knowledge and skills required for jobs in each field
- information concerning projected employment
- steps to take now, while in high school, to begin preparing for their future.
The cost includes transportation for scheduled field trips, lunch, snacks and T-shirt.
All camps will be held at:

Monday - Thursday, July 15-18, 2013
Go beyond business basics in this camp where students learn what it takes to launch and run their own enterprise. Students participate in an extended group project to develop their own unique product and create their own company. Along the way, students engage in hands-on activities to learn the skills of a successful business person such as communication, time management, decision-making and planning. The camp wraps up with a field trip to the Macomb-OU INCubator where students present their final projects to a panel of professionals. Students receive feedback and tips to help them understand the competitive world of business and the skills needed to succeed. Sessions meet 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
