Certified Nursing Assistant program begins

About the Program
The Certified Nursing Assistant Program is offered through the
Oakland University's School of Nursing-Continuing Education. This
program is currently being offered at The Riverview Institute of Oakland
University at one of the most technologically advanced medical training
facilities in the state. This course provides basic fundamental nursing
skills, and state certification as a Nursing Assistant. Wage rates for
CNA's range from $12-$14 per hour.
This course will introduce the theory and techniques involved with
the role of the Nurse Assistant. As a nurse assistant, you will perform
the tasks given to you by the nurse. After you finish the training
program, you will be able to perform the following hands-on patient care
procedures with supervision in the following areas:
- Daily care including: bathing, feeding, and dressing
- Vital Sign Measurement
- ROM exercises
- Admit, transfer, and patient discharge
- Application of hot and cold treatments
- Specimen collection
- Care of the dying person
- Post surgery patients
- Care of the patient with chronic illnesses
- Safety with transferring and ambulation
Students must complete 110 hours to successfully complete this
program. The course typically meets over 4 to 6 weeks in 2 hour
increments.

Requirements
Students will be required to do a criminal background check, health screening including a TB Skin Test and urine drug screen.
