Part Two is the on-campus component and gives students the opportunity to meet with an academic adviser, create a plan of study and register for classes. During Part One of New Student Orientation, students will meet with an academic adviser, register for classes, explore the campus and learn about university policies and resources and much more. To sign up for Part One, please visit oakland.edu/orientation. Students will need their Grizzly ID in order to sign up, which can found in their acceptance letter. Part Two of New Student Orientation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

Online Collaboration Tools

There’s a lot more than e-mail available to enhance remote collaboration. A variety of free online tools provide collaborators with the ability to meet, teach and mentor remotely, share notes, files, and research bibliographies. This session will provide an overview of several categories of collaboration tools, including Evernote, Dropbox, Zotero, Google Drive, and Google Hangout, and will discuss issues such as system requirements, password overload, content preservation and privacy.

Learning Objectives:

- Understand basic features of various online collaboration tools

- Recognize which tool is appropriate for various categories of collaboration (sharing resources and bibliographies for a research project, mentoring students, teaching, etc.)

- Know the system requirements of each tool (whether downloads are required, browser requirements, etc.)

- Recognize concerns regarding content preservation and privacy

- Discuss issues about managing accounts and passwords

The School of Business Administration at Oakland University and the Oakland University Alumni Association are pleased to invite SBA alumni to a happy hour reception featuring good food, networking with fellow SBA alums and an update from SBA Dean Mohan Tanniru. The food, conversation and information are all free, and a cash bar will be available.

This event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and offers the chance to catch up with fellow alumni and learn about all the advances the SBA is making in educating business students, as well as provide an opportunity to acknowledge Dean Tanniru’s six years of service to the SBA as its Dean, as he prepares to transition leadership of the SBA to a new dean at for the 2013 academic year.

Systematic Reviews

The volume of clinical research evidence is rapidly growing, and clinicians may find multiple research studies addressing the same clinical question. A systematic review answers a clinical question by finding and evaluating all available research evidence. It is a form of research that provides a summery of clinical studies on a specific clinical question, using explicit methods to identify relevant studies, critically appraise their quality, and synthesize the evidence. Clinicians may use systematic reviews to inform patient care decisions. The session will discuss the basic principles of systematic reviews and differences between systematic reviews and other types of reviews. It will review resources for systematic reviews and introduce the steps taken to conduct a systematic review on a given clinical question.

Learning Objectives:

• State the differences between a narrative review, systematic review, and meta-analysis

• Understand the importance of systematic reviews in evidence-based practice

• Review various ways to locate systematic reviews

• Describe the steps required to complete a systematic review
