Letter from OU President Gary Russi:
In the pages that follow you will find countless examples of the caring and selfless giving shown by our alumni and friends during 2003…From the volunteerism of our charter class reunion committee members to the generosity of OU Trustee and alumnus Dennis Pawley and his wife, Carlotta, to the donations given by our employee family through our annual fund drive. Those connected to Oakland University are making it a better place to learn, to teach and to impact the community that surrounds us near and far.
We have much to be thankful for, but also much to accomplish. With another year of diminishing state support, we must look even more for outside funding sources to ensure our university maintains the high threshold of quality our students need to succeed. We must also continually look for ways to strengthen our learning tools and environments, attract stellar faculty to our campus and provide scholarship support that often makes that critical difference in a student’s ability to attend or stay in school at Oakland.
Thank you for all that you do to make an Oakland education so meaningful and life changing. Your acts of kindness are advancing our mission and vision of delivering a distinctive undergraduate experience strengthened by our graduate programs and research accomplishments.
My sincere thanks and deepest appreciation,
Gary D. Russi
President of Oakland University
