OU Moment

These guys sure did. They’re part of OU’s “Grizz Gang,” fans who get together to cheer on the team. They showed up (along with lots of other friends, students, alumni, faculty and staff) for the men’s basketball game during Oakland’s first-ever Homecoming weekend this past February. Festivities included men’s and women’s basketball games (they won both); the annual Alumni Fun Festival; tailgate party; ice skating party; and a Build-a-Grizz-Bear competition. An event celebrating 25+ years of coaching at OU for Pete Hovland, swimming and diving coach; Greg Kampe, men’s basketball coach; and Gary Parsons, men’s soccer coach; benefitted the Oakland University Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund. Approximately 5,500 people attended the weekend event. Inset: Junior Johnathon Jones at the game against Centenary College. The Grizzlies won, 78-65.
