Oakland won a Division I best 23 games (one win shy of the school record of 24, set in 1994-95) and advanced all the way to The Summit League Championship game before falling to North Dakota State University 66-64 on a heart-breaking last second shot.

Women’s soccer After a slow start in the season’s earlier games, the Oakland University women’s soccer team (9-9-2) was on fire during the conference season, posting a 7-1 record against Summit League opponents and earning a share of the regular season championship title before falling 1-0 in the championship tournament game.

Swimming and diving The swimming and diving teams continued to prove their dominance in The Summit League and as a mid-major powerhouse in 2008-09 as the both the men’s (8-1 in dual meets) and women’s (7-4 in dual meets) squads captured their 10th straight league title.
