SECSFaculty and student invent system for ‘bionic nose’ A research project that emerged from an OU electrical engineering class may have a major impact on future environmental safety and protection measures. Master’s student Jacob Allen and Professor of Engineering Hoda S. Abdel-Aty-Zohdy teamed with Robert Ewing of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio to develop a prototype computer for an “electronic nose,” which has the capacity for 1,024 sensor inputs and can be used to detect a nearly unlimited number of odors.
