3/2012 - Zissimos P. Mourelatos, professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has won two Colwell Merit Awards from the Society for Automotive Engineers for his papers “Piston Design Using Multi-Objective Reliability-Based Design Optimization” and “Time-Dependent Reliability Estimation for Dynamic Systems Using a Random Process Approach.” Papers are judged for their value as contributions to existing knowledge of mobility engineering, and primarily with respect to their value as an original contribution to the subject matter. Dr. Mourelatos will receive formal recognition at the 2012 SAE World Congress during the Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 24, at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
4/2007 - Zissimos Mourelatos, associate professor of mechanical engineering, was named a Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) fellow by the SAE International. Along with other fellows, Mourelatos will be recognized at the SAE World Congress in April in Detroit. Mourelators area of expertise includes engine lubrication, engine structural dynamics, noise, vibration and design.
