What you'll do

As an Alumni Admissions Ambassador, you'll be armed with important knowledge so you can spread the word about Oakland — everywhere you go.

College Fairs

OU Admissions Advisers partner with in-state ambassadors at Michigan college fairs and strategic out-of-state locations. Out-of-state ambassadors are trained to independently field questions from parents and students at out-of-state college fairs featuring several colleges and universities.

Go for the Gold

Alumni hosts welcome future students and their parents, offer insight on why they decided to attend OU, and hand out Oakland t-shirts to future students in exchange for their evaluation at the end of this campus wide recruitment event.

Welcome Receptions

Alumni Admissions Ambassadors welcome newly admitted students and their parents during evening receptions held in the winter and spring.

Transfer Open House

Alumni who transferred into Oakland welcome future transfer students at open houses and receptions geared specifically for transfer students.

Grizzly Story Time Visits

Visit Elementary Schools with the AAAP Coordinator and "The Grizz" to read the children's storybook "Hello, Grizz" to the students.  These events are most popular in March, as that is designated "Reading Month."  Great event if you work in an elementary school or if you have children that attend.

Other Opportunities

The AAAP partners with other Oakland University campus departments to utilize alumni ambassadors at specific on and off campus events designed to help recruit and yield future OU students. A few opportunities include: University Housing's Freshman Move In, Center of Multicultural Inititives (CMI) Collectively Oakland Retains Everyone (CORE) Detroit Reception, Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) Day, and Business Day just to name a few.
