What You'll Do

As an Alumni Admissions Ambassador, you'll share your OU experience with prospective students and their families. You’ll be armed with important information so you can easily spread the word about OU, but it’s your enthusiasm and personal success that can truly make a difference for students exploring college options.

College Fairs
Alumni living in Michigan can partner with OU admissions advisers at in-state college fairs and strategic out-of-state locations. If you’re an out-of-state alum, you’ll be trained to independently field questions from parents and students during fairs in your state.

Go for the Gold
During this major recruitment event in the OC, alumni welcome future students and their parents, offer insight on why they decided to attend OU, and hand out Oakland t-shirts to future students in exchange for their evaluation.

Welcome Receptions
Alumni welcome newly admitted students and their parents during evening receptions held in the OC during the winter and spring.

Transfer Student Open House
Alumni who transferred into Oakland share their experiences with potential transfer students at open houses and receptions in the OC.

Grizzly Story Time Visits
Visit elementary schools with the AAAP coordinator and the Grizz mascot to read the children's storybook "Hello, Grizz." These visits are most popular in March, the designated reading month for most area schools. This is a great way to read to your own child’s class while promoting OU!

Other Opportunities
The AAAP partners with other campus departments to utilize alumni ambassadors at specific on- and off-campus events that recruit and yield future OU students, such as University Housing's Freshman Move-In and the Center of Multicultural Initiative’ Collectively Oakland Retains Everyone (CORE) Detroit reception.
