PowerPoint Karaoke pro to share secrets of marketing success

Sterling Heights, Mich. – On Thursday, Sept. 6, the Macomb-OU INCubator will welcome Charlie Wollborg, chief troublemaker at Curve Detroit Marketing Strategy and Creative Design, to defend his point that social media will not be a specialty for too much longer.

In a Lunch and Launch presentation titled "Visual Storytelling and Content Marketing: Examples and Case Studies from YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Picasa, Pintrest, Instagram, Foursquare & Tumblr," Wollberg will argue that there aren't many telephone gurus making the rounds anymore. In other words, social tools will continue to come and go, but corporate storytelling and content marketing are the big opportunities for marketers and communicators to master long term.

Through photos, videos, words and audio, a company's brand story can be shared in unlimited ways. Wollberg will share insights on telling a brand story, cultivating fans and sparking devotion.

Wollberg opened the doors at Curve after being thrown out of several well-respected ad agencies. As a marketing strategist and creative director, he has delivered results for household names like Ford, GM, Boyne Resorts and Absopure, as well as budding challenger brands.

An unabashed lover of Detroit, he helps produces the annual TEDxDetroit conference. Last year, he was named the second best PowerPoint Karaoke presenter in the world. This year, he hopes to win something that people have actually heard of.

The free Lunch and Launch lecture, set from 12-1 p.m. on Sept. 6, will include a question and answer period. Attendees should bring their own lunch, though beverages and dessert will be provided.

Lunch and Launch events take place in the Velocity building at 6633 Eighteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Those interested in attending the upcoming lecture are asked to register in advance by contacting Joan Carleton at (586) 884-9324 or at macinc@oakland.edu.

The Macomb-OU INCubator provides comprehensive development and support to startup and emerging businesses with a focus on the defense, homeland security, advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. For more information, visit the incubator website at oakland.edu/macombouinc.
