Join us as we celebrate Justice, Freedom, Change...Now is the Time through the many outstanding events during African American Celebration 2012.   

African American Celebration 2012 begins Monday, January 16 with the ABS MLK Day March at 9:30 am in the Hamlin Circle. The month long celebration concludes on Thursday, February 16 at 12:00 p.m. with a presentation about White Privilege by Andrew Hacker, Author and adjunct professor at Queens College of the City of New York.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES!

Become an OU Student Leader! We are looking for students who want to be leaders and representatives of Oakland University! Attend an information session to learn how to become a CMI Peer Mentor, Orientation Group Leader (OGL), Resident Assistant, Academic Peer Mentor (APM), Apartment Community Assistant (ACA) and Nightwatch staff member. The application deadline is Friday, January 27 by 5:00 p.m. so don't wait!

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES!

2012 WILSON AND HUMAN RELATIONS AWARDS

It is time to begin the selection process for the 2012 Matilda R. Wilson/Alfred G. Wilson and Human Relations Award!  The Wilson Awards were established in 1965 and recognize one female and one male graduating senior who have contributed as scholars, leaders, and responsible citizens to the Oakland University Community. For more information or to access the nomination forms, visit www.oakland.edu/?id=1307&sid=74.All nominations must be returned by Monday, February 6, 2012, to the Dean of Students Office, 144 Oakland Center.

OAKLAND UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The 2012 OUAA Scholarship Program is currently accepting applications for nearly 30 scholarships that benefit students and alumni. Most scholarships are open to any undergraduate student with junior or senior status by fall 2012. Scholarship recipients must have two or more full-time semesters remaining in their academic program and must have a 3.0 GPA in their major field of study as well as a cumulative 3.0 GPA at OU. For a complete list of student scholarships please visit OUAA Student Scholarship Program. Only completed applications received by March 1, 2012 will be considered.
