Client company Advenovation first to graduate from OU INCubator

Rochester, Mich. – OU INC tenant client Advenovation celebrated its graduation during an open house on Friday at the Rochester Hills incubator.

Specializing in the design integration and implementation of vision guided robotic solutions, Advenovation is expanding to a 5,000-square-foot facility located on Hamlin Road in Rochester Hills.

Company President Adil Shafi has pioneered many innovations in the field of vision guided robotics (VGR) over the past 24 years. During this time, he has also enlightened and inspired many in the robotics industry, including more than 5,000 people who registered for his Robotics Online webinars in 2012, which often aired from his office at OU Inc.

"Having the opportunity to have Advenovation's home base at OU INC for the past year has been extremely beneficial to the company. OU INC's location on Oakland University's campus creates the synergy needed to establish a positive relationship with the technology and robotics field," Shafi said.

"Having the opportunity to be affiliated with a university improves its credibility and ours as well."

During its tenure at OU INC, Advenovation grew its customer base more than six-fold. In 2011, GM Powertrain requested that the company write its global standards for the implementation of machine vision.

Advenovation has also been entrusted to work on the Orion Spaceship's heat shield, and wrote a highly researched market report about service robots and their use in more than four dozen new markets in the air, on land, in homes, outdoors, and on and under water.

"Advenovation has grown into a thriving business while also becoming strategic partners with OU INC and Oakland University," OU INC Executive Director Amy Butler, said.

"It is very rewarding to graduate an OU INC client and have them locate in Rochester Hills, where they will contribute to creating jobs while supporting other local businesses and their global counterparts."

The City of Rochester Hills is pleased to welcome the growing company.

"In the past few years, Rochester Hills has attracted a number of companies experiencing tremendous growth in the robotics field," said Mayor Bryan K. Barnett.

"We are pleased to welcome Advenovation to our community and to our robotics supply chain. Rochester Hills continues to be a major hub in North America for the development of robotic systems and having the OU Incubator right here in our community certainly helps drive much of that momentum."
