OU dancers, guitarists unite to explore landscapes of humans senses

Rochester, Mich. – On Saturday, Dec. 8, some of Oakland University 's most accomplished dance and music students will present "Landscapes," an evening of dance and live guitar music exploring the landscapes of human senses.

Of the concert, Assistant Professor of Dance Ali Woerner said, "Images will come alive as the Repertory Dance Company and Guitar Ensemble partner to paint vivid brush strokes of sound and movement."

In addition to the intriguing landscapes of the imagination, the more literal landscapes of Cuba and the Balkans will be evoked, since the music of both regions will be included in the repertoire.

Woerner and Assistant Professor of Dance Thayer Jonutz teamed up to choreograph the collaborative concert, alongside Guitar Ensemble Director Bret Hoag. The Repertory Dance Company and Guitar Ensemble last performed together at last season's Faculty Collaborative Concert. The enchanting event welcomed a sold out crowd.

The Dec. 8 performance of "Landscapes" will take place at 8 p.m. in Varner Studio Theatre – a small, intimate space perfect for this kind of atmospheric event. For interactive and printable maps of the Oakland University campus, visit

Tickets are $8 and are available ahead of time with no service fee. Tickets will also be sold at the box office beginning one hour before the event begins. Complete ticket information is available at
