Celebrity, music, memories shape 2013-14 Macomb Town Hall series
Rochester, Mich. – Macomb Town Hall will kick off its 2013-14 luncheon-lecture series with a presentation by celebrated actress Stefanie Powers on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
|Actress Stefanie Powers will open the 2013-14 Macomb Town Hall scholarship luncheon series on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Powers will share stories, insights and perspectives she has gained through a rewarding career that has included appearances with John Wayne, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Bing Crosby, Glenn Ford and Sammy Davis Jr.
Also scheduled to speak in this year's series is local blues musician and OU alumnus Matthew Ball on Jan. 21, as well as George Vine and Erna Gorman, who on April 15 will discuss their WWII experiences during a lecture entitled "Power of the Human Spirit.
For nearly 45 years, the Macomb Town Hall series has generated funding to support scholarships at Oakland University. Previous and planned contributions of nearly $500,000 are designated for deserving Macomb County students, who now make up 33 percent of the Oakland student body.
Speaker presentations, which take at the Andiamo Banquet Center in Warren, open to the public at 10:15 a.m. and begin at 11 a.m. Series tickets are $120. For more information, call (586) 465-2548 or (586) 246-9017.
