Endorsed certificate program ideal for businesses looking to go Lean
Sterling Heights, Mich. – As part of Oakland University's Lean Diversification Program and recently endorsed by The Michigan Lean Consortium, the Macomb-OU INCubator is offering the Green Belt Certificate Program for business managers looking to develop excellence, nurture innovation, efficiently allocate resources and eliminate waste.
This six-part series will take place Tuesday, Feb. 12, through Tuesday, May 7. Participants will come to understand and apply Lean principles that enable product and service diversification. Topics covered will include streamlining processes, maximizing success, developing employees, impacting financial measures and improving customer satisfaction and value. In light of the Michigan Lean Consortium's endorsement, participants can be assured they are receiving the highest quality of Lean training.
"The instructors provided a positive learning culture over the course of the few months of the program," said Nathan Tallman, corporate development and marketing director for Metro Wire and Cable, and a participant in the most recent Green Belt Certificate Program.
"The class had a great time. We learned a lot of new tools and approaches to leading Lean and we are all looking forward to coaching members of our teams and growing as professionals."
Macomb, Wayne and Oakland county professionals specializing in defense, homeland security, aerospace and manufacturing-related industries are strongly encouraged to pursue this career development opportunity, as are leaders of companies heavily reliant on a specific industry or select products and wishing to explore diversification options.
The 53 hours of classroom and online instruction time includes an average of one day per week in the classroom, a one-day benchmarking visit for a Lean assessment, and eight weeks allotted for independent completion of individualized projects. Regularly scheduled sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuition for the upcoming Green Belt Certificate Program is $600. For more information and to register, visit oakland.edu/diversify or contact Joan Carleton at the Macomb-OU INCubator at (586) 884-9324 or macINC@oakland.edu.
