Discounted Tickets for OU Faculty and Staff
The Center for Student Activities would like to remind all staff and faculty there are many services, such as tickets, USPS stamps, and faxes offered through their Service Window. Please check out their website for discounted tickets to shows at the various Detroit theatres and professional sporting events. New this year is the opportunity to purchase Music, Theatre, and Dance tickets at the CSA Service Window. You can request to be placed on the patron list to receive a monthly update of current offerings or check them out at the CSA Service Window page.

PAYROLL UPDATE: Important 2013 end-of-year/tax information will be coming to you in a separate email at the end of the week.  Please look for it.

Are You Enrolled in an HMO for 2013?
Are you enrolled in one of the following HMOs for 2013?
  • HAP Health Engagement Aspire
  • Blue Care Network Healthy Blue Living Rewards
  • Priority Health HealthbyChoice Achievements
If you and your spouse are enrolled in either the HAP or Blue Care Network HMO listed above, remember that each year you must both complete the on-line health risk appraisal and visit your primary care physician to complete the Qualification Form before the end of March 2013 to qualify for the higher level of benefits. This is true even if you were in the same plan in 2012.

If you are enrolled in the Priority Health HealthbyChoice Achievements HMO, you and your spouse must both complete the on-line health risk appraisal and visit your primary care physician to complete the Qualification Form. This can be done at any time during the year. Please note that you will remain in the Standard level of benefits until both covered adults have completed the requirements and have a satisfactory score on the Qualification Form.

Flexible Spending Account Year End Claims Processing
Due to the Christmas holiday, Flex Spending claims process will follow the schedule below:

Please keep this schedule in mind when submitting claims in December.

Flexible Spending Account Reminder
If you are enrolled in the Health Care or Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Accounts, you have until December 31, 2012 to use your funds. Claims for 2012 expenses for Dependent Day Care must be filed with Meritain no later than January 30, 2013. Claims for the Health Care Account must be filed with Meritain no later than March 31, 2013. Claims forms are available on the UHR website. Be sure to keep a copy of all claims sent to Meritain for processing. Remember, money that is not used by the end of the year will be forfeited.

Retirement Plan Limits Increased for 2013
The IRS has announced new limits for the amount of money you can set aside for retirement in our 403(b) and 457(b) plans. Beginning in January 2013, the annual maximum that you can contribute to your 403(b) or 457(b) plan is increased to $17,500 for each plan. If you are age 50 or older, you can contribute an additional $5,500. If you wish to make a change to your retirement contributions, complete the Retirement Salary Reduction Agreement. The completed form should be turned in to UHR in room 401 Wilson Hall. If you have any questions, please stop by to see us or give us a call at extension 4207.

Using E-mail, the Internet, and Social Media Safely in a Corporate Environment
E-mail has become the most used communications medium in corporate networks today, with this high usage, comes an ever increasing need to understand the security considerations involved and how the end user can help in making sure E-mail security is maintained. Social networking, and the use of social media websites has added another level of complexity to network security as users are able to open security holes if the wrong type of information is made public. This course examines the ethical use of E-mail, guidelines for using E-mail safely, and how to deal with issues as they arise. This course also examines social networking, social media, the proper use of the Internet at work, and the security issues that can arise from posting or discussing corporate information on social media sites.
