KEEPER OF THE DREAM SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CELEBRATION

 Oakland University's 18th annual
Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Celebration
Monday, January 18, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. Doors open at 10:45 a.m.
This event is free and open to all.
Keynote address by Susan L. Taylor Editor emeriti of Essence magazine Founder, National Cares Mentoring Movement

AFRICAN AMERICAN CELEBRATION 2010

Join us as we celebrate Creating the African American Community: Family, Spirituality, Politics & Culture through the many outstanding events during African American Celebration 2010.   

African American Celebration 2010 begins Monday, January 18 at 11:30 am with the annual Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Celebration. The month long celebration closes on Thursday, February 18 at 5:00 p.m. with The Psychedelic Shack - A 70s Party.

Find out more about becoming an OU Hero!We are looking for students who want to be leaders and representatives of Oakland University! Discover how to become a student leader on campus and get paid for a job that allows you to make a difference. Attend an information session to learn how to become a CMI Peer Mentor, Orientation Group Leader (OGL), Resident Assistant, or Nightwatch staff member.  The application deadline is Friday, January 29 so don't wait!

2010 WILSON AND HUMAN RELATIONS AWARDS

It is time to begin the selection process for the 2010 Matilda R. Wilson/Alfred G. Wilson and Human Relations Award!  The Wilson Awards were established in 1965 and recognize one female and one male graduating senior who have contributed as scholars, leaders, and responsible citizens to the Oakland University Community. For more information or to access the nomination forms, visit www.oakland.edu/?id=1307&sid=74.

HOW WOULD YOU CHANGE THE CULTURAL CLIMATE OF OAKLAND?

Oakland University Student Congress (OUSC) would like to know, in 750 words or less, how you would change the cultural climate of Oakland. This essay contest is sponsored by OUSC and the Multicultural Affairs Committee and carries an award of $200 for the Winter 2010 semester. Essays should be submitted to the student congress office or to Saman Waquad at sfwaquad@oakland.edu by Friday, Feb 26.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!
Congratulations to first year scholar, Suba Hanif, and fourth year scholar, Keith Jones,  for earning the highest overall grade point averages among all CMI Scholars!

As of January 1, 2010, students are able to complete their FAFSA online to apply for financial aid for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Full-year registration will begin in March, so meet with your advisor early to ensure you are prepared to register for Fall 2010 AND Winter 2011.
