OUWB plans health fair and Tastefest in Harper Woods
Harper Woods, Mich. –The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) is hosting its second annual community health fair and Tastefest on Friday, Jan. 17 from 3-6 p.m. at the Chandler Park Academy in Harper Woods. This event, to provide wellness screenings and educate the community, is intended to carry forward the torch of community engagement while celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
|OUWB is hosting a free community health fair and Tastefest on January 17 at Chandler Park Academy in Harper Woods from 3-6 p.m.
Blood sugar screenings, flu shots, an AED presentation, community health education tables and other activities for families will be available at the event. In addition, the Tastefest portion of the event will feature food items prepared and provided by local Harper Woods restaurants.
"This event keeps true to our vision to lead in promoting, maintaining and restoring health to individuals and communities served by the medical school, "says Caryn Reed-Hendon, Ph.D., director, Diversity & Inclusion Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. "It's our second annual event and we are looking forward to interacting with the Harper Woods community."
The OUWB event is in partnership with Chandler Park Academy, Healthy Detroit and the Oakland University School of Nursing.
