OU names John O. Young AVP of Communications and Marketing

     Rochester, Mich. – Oakland University has named John O. Young its new associate vice president of communications and marketing, according to the university's Vice President for Development, Alumni and Community Engagement Eric Barritt.

John O. Young
     A resident of Midland, Young most recently served as vice president of marketing for Northwood University. Prior to that, he served as vice president and chief marketing, enrollment and government relations officer at Walsh College.

     Young also has significant health care marketing experience, serving in a variety of leadership roles at Oakwood Healthcare System, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, the Detroit Medical Center and McLaren General Hospital.

     "John's background and experience make him a perfect fit for OU as we continue to enhance our brand and communicate to our more than 90,000 alums, nearly 20,000 students and the entire region," Barritt said.

     "He's joining us at a critical juncture in the university's history, as we're about to take the next important steps toward solidifying Oakland's image as a world class institution of higher education. John's leadership will go a long way toward helping us achieve new heights of recognition and stature."

     Young serves on the Arnold Center Board and the Midland Planning Commission, and has held numerous positions in professional and community organizations. His wife, Melinda, is an Oakland University alumna.
