Law School

Velocity Incubator
The Detroit News, Crain's Detroit Business, Macomb Daily, The Source and Targeted News Service reported on the launch of the new Velocity business incubator, an economic initiative supported by Oakland University, Macomb County and Sterling Heights.

Medical Main Street
X-ology magazine reported on Medical Main Street a unique alliance of universities, heath care institutions and life science companies designed to spur investment in the region. Oakland University participates in this initiative, which was created in 2008.

Business Awards
The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce presented the Sunrise Pinnacle Awards, honoring Oakland University as the Fox Automotive Business of the Year and recognizing the OU INCubator with the Economic Development Award.

Presidential Debate
CNBC.com and the Detroit News reported on the upcoming Republican presidential debate set for Nov. 9 on the Oakland University campus.

Brooksie Way
The Oakland Press reported on the fourth annual Brooksie Way Half-Marathon held on Oakland University's campus. The event drew more than 5,000 participants.

Meadow Brook Dinner
The Oakland Press reported on a murder mystery dinner to be held at Meadow Brook Hall.

Medical School Students
David McNaughton, Laura Diffenderfer, Melissa Bayci and Amandi Xi, students in Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, were featured in an X-ology magazine article highlighting the school's innovative approach to medical education.

Men's Basketball
OU basketball players Reggie Hamilton, Travis Bader and Laval Lucas-Perry were featured in the Oakland Press after being named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Summit League Team, while Corey Petros was tabbed freshman of the year. Hamilton was also quoted in the Oakland Press regarding the upcoming season. Additionally, the team was featured in Detroit News and Detroit Free Press articles for exceeding the national average for student-athlete graduation rates. A study showed Oakland graduated 90 percent of men's basketball players from its 2004 freshman class.

Women's Basketball
OU basketball players Bethany Watterworth and Sharise Calhoun were featured in the Oakland Press after being named to the Preseason All-Summit League team. Watterworth was also quoted in a Detroit Free Press article previewing the upcoming season.

Men's Soccer
Led by Mitch Hildebrandt and Andrew Barrett, the OU men's soccer team was featured in the Oakland Press after defeating Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Barrett and Hildebrandt each earned Summit League Player of the Week honors for their performances.
