| CIBRE Education -- CIBRE Summer Internship Program returns |
The CIBRE Summer Internship Program returns for a second year in a row allowing SBA students to gain real experience and support Michigan's economic development goals while earning a tuition stipend.

| CIBRE Education -- Scholars Program Update |
The SBA Scholars program is a unique undergraduate program offered through the SBA's Center for Integrated Business Research and Education (CIBRE). Special projects give Scholars insight and experience with both established solid businesses as well as cutting-edge technology-driven companies.
The Scholars Program is a competitive, academic program which requires students to apply and interview before they are selected. In the program, students experience unique opportunities. They are recognized for academic achievement and, through networking and community involvement, they become a very cohesive and productive group.

| CIBRE Education -- Applied Technology in Business restructured |
Founded in 1997, the ATiB program became the signature program of the SBA. It has provided students 56 credits hours of tuition stipend while providing them the opportunity to work on projects provided by corporate sponsors who funded the program.
Given the decreasing number of two-year sponsorship commitments the SBA is restructuring the program for Fall 2010. The new model will retain the valuable experiential learning component, but with one-year sponsors funding 12 credits for the ATiB minor.
A new ATiB director will be hired to administer this new program. More details will be forthcoming. |

| CIBRE Education -- Experiential Learning & Innovation Program |
Businesses throughout the region are tapping into the advanced skills of top graduate students who are available to work on company-sponsored projects through the CIBRE's Experiential Learning and Innovation (ELI) program at Oakland University's School of Business Administration.
The program provides businesses the opportunity to add resources to projects to make decisions and solve problems while also giving students the chance to integrate their coursework with real-time learning – all while supporting economic growth in Michigan and beyond.

| CIBRE Outreach -- CIBRE Seminar Series |
CIBRE recently introduced a seminar series where academic and industry experts present advanced thinking on a wide range of topics that cross a variety of disciplines and industries.
The CIBRE Seminars directly reflect the integrative thinking philosophy driving the SBA's CIBRE by bringing a broad cross-section of people -- from academics and the business community -- together to encourage diverse thinking and sharing of different perspectives to advance research and solve problems.
Upcoming Seminar Friday, April 16: How Open Content Can Keep Education Accessible and Competitive in a Flat World Presented by: Eric Frank, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Flat World Knowledge

| CIBRE Outreach -- CIBRE Special Programs |
CIBRE provides a place where business leaders, academics, researchers, professionals and students come together to share resources, ideas and identify actions to address organizational issues, educate current and future professionals, and support economic development in the community, and the world.
One way CIBRE makes these connections is by co-sponsoring events -- on OU's campus or around the globe.
Upcoming events include:
• Ignite Automotive -- April 22, Oakland Center Banquet Rooms -- A fun, engaging way to open up dialog and share innovative ideas about the reinventing the automotive industry. This evening, the entire industry is up for jabs: engineering, design, human resources, transportation, manufacturing, finance, administration … whatever. Learn more here.
• Lessons Learned: An Examination of the Toyota Situation -- April 29, Elliott Hall, Oakland University -- A networking breakfast, presentation and discussion coordinated by Society of Automotive Analysts that examines what went well, what didn't go well and what can be learned from Toyota's recent experience. Learn more here. |

| CIBRE Initiative -- Tool and Die Futures |
CIBRE is helping small manufacturers explore innovation and shift the industry into emerging sectors such as defense, energy and aerospace, under the umbrella of the Tool and Die Futures Initiative (TDFI).
Through monthly forums, CIBRE is facilitating conversations between tool-die companies, OEM and Tier 1 suppliers.
The TDFI and CIBRE also are bringing together teams of displaced white collar business and technical professionals, small manufacturers and OU students to work on economic transition projects to help reshape the manufacturing industry in southeastern Michigan while providing SBA students with important experiential learning opportunities.
