Monday, April 02, 2012 - OUCARES and Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation Make Spirits Bright

In time for the holidays, the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (ASDF) worked with the Oakland University Center for Autism Research, Education and Support (OUCARES), to deliver gifts and pizza to families affected by autism in the Pontiac, Michigan community.

ASDF helped OUCARES host a holiday gift party for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families at Pontiac’s Whitmer Human Resource Center Elementary School. The fun event featured food and gifts, including generous Target gift cards for families to use toward their holiday needs.

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (ASDF) has been a supporter of OUCARES for the last three years. Since 2009, ASDF has provided scholarships for children to attend OUCARES’ unique summer Film Camp. To date, the ASDF has donated over $34,300 to OUCARES, directly benefiting children and young adults diagnosed with autism. Gifts from the ASDF have provided scholarships to the OUCARES Film Camp, social skills program, Pee Wee program and the plethora of recreational programs held during the academic year.
