Welcome
Welcome to the Oakland University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Ally Employee Resource Group (LGBTQIA ERG). The LGBTQIA ERG was established in 2004 under the auspices of the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives. Today we are one of the most active ERGs on campus. We invite all OU faculty and staff who support our mission of achieving equality, inclusion and visibility for the LGBTQA community to join us.
Our next meeting times are:
Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 12noon in Room 125 of the Oakland Center

and Wednesday April 17, 2013 in our usual space in 515 Varner Hall
We also have several social gatherings planned, and we would love to see you there. The next scheduled after work gatherings for ERG members and other faculty is for TONIGHT, March 1st at Rochester Mills Brewing Company (400 Water Street in downtown Rochester.) We would also like to support the OU performance of The Vagina Monologues in Dodge Hall afterwards. If you cannot make it Friday, it will be shown Saturday evening as well. The performances will take place:
- Friday, March 1st at 8pm
- Saturday, March 2nd at 1pm
- Saturday, March 2nd at 8pm
All performance will take place in 201 Dodge Hall.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. You may
purchase tickets at the CSA Service Window, 49 Oakland
Center.

We are working on updating these pages, and hope you will check back often for news, events, meeting times and notes, and scholarship information, and for all the ways we support our OU students, staff and faculty! Stay tuned for updated Winter 2013 meeting times and events.
We are pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship for undergraduate students who have demonstrated leadership in the LGBTQA community on campus and/or in the larger community.
This scholarship is open to any full-time undergraduate with an established OU GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants are asked to submit a short essay and a letter of recommendation noting their service to the community.
The selected student will receive $500 toward their university expenses for both fall 2013 and winter 2014 terms.

The LGBTQIA ERG Scholarship award will be given out at the 2013 SOGI Conference on March 9th. We are proud to be the 2013 host school, and look forward to seeing you all there!
This year’s conference
will include full hour concurrent sessions and roundtable discussions
focused on meeting the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer, questioning, and intersex students, staff, faculty and
administrators.The 2013 conference offers a full day complete with
breakfast, lunch, and opportunities to reflect, network, and plan for
the school year.

About Employee Resource Groups
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are volunteer, employee-managed groups
that promote the interests of their respective constituency. ERGs are
open to all OU employees. Their purpose is to align diverse groups with
upper-level employees to create a bridge between the university and its
employees by promoting awareness and enthusiasm for diversity inclusion.
Each ERG has a university sponsor (dean, VP, directors or others) who
works with the ERG to develop and achieve ERG goals. In addition, all
ERGs have a president who is a current ERG member.
