About IB at Oakland
IB Teacher Award for the Programme of Your Choice
Oakland University Graduate Certificate in International Education courses can lead to the IB Level I Teacher Award in any one of three programmes.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) for pupils aged 3 to 12 focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world outside.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 16 provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills through embracing and transcending traditional school subjects.
The Diploma Programme for students aged 16 to 19 is a demanding two-year curriculum that meets the needs of highly motivated students, and leads to a qualification that is recognized by leading
universities around the world.
(from www.ibo.org)
Because of this, Oakland's IB cohort members are a blend of people working across the K-12 curriculum, leading to fascinating and useful conversations. The assignments are designed for each teacher to try theories out in his or her setting. At some point in the program, each cohort member chooses a programme (PYP, MYP or DP) for his or her Teacher Award.
Earn Credits Toward a Masters Degree
Up to 20 credits may be applied to Oakland University’s Master of Education in Educational Studies (M.Ed.), which is 32 credits.
Oakland University is One of Twelve Universities Worldwide
