Your written request should identify as much detail as possible about the public records you are seeking. Also, please include your name, mailing address and e-mail address if applicable.
Pursuant to Section 4 of the Michigan FOIA, the following is the schedule of fees that will be charged: (1) Copying -- The charge for photocopies of documents shall be $.10 per page. The charge for copies of other public records (including CDs and other electronic recordings or storage instruments) will be determined on a case by case basis, depending on the means and cost of preparing a duplicate of that public record. (2) Labor -- The cost for time expended on a public record search, duplication of public records, the examination and review of potentially responsive documents, the separation of exempt from nonexempt information, and the redaction of exempt information will be billed at the hourly wage of the lowest paid University employee capable of performing the task given the nature of the FOIA request. A fee will be charged for the cost of search, examination, review, and the deletion and separation of exempt from nonexempt information as provided in Section 14 of the Michigan FOIA if it requires more than one hour of time. Each hourly wage charged will be inclusive of salary and benefits.
