Mannino, Cammie
Cammie Mannino was the owner of the downtown Rochester, MI, children’s bookshop Halfway Down the Stairs for 20 years before retiring and closing the store in 2008. In an oral history recorded at Oakland University on January 22, 2010, by Cornelia Pokrzywa, Mannino shares her insights into the unique culture, community and controversy that sprung up around the bookstore, and how it left a lasting impact on the community.
