From speakers to students: Town Hall endowment For 30 years, Macomb Town Hall has used money raised from its program of national speaker appearances to grant a scholarship to a deserving Oakland University student. Now the Town Hall organization has committed to a five-year, $50,000 effort that will fund many scholarships over decades to come. In 2003, one of Town Hall’s longest-serving members, treasurer Gladys McLean, passed away suddenly after being stricken with cancer. Her family looked for a way to honor her memory and wanted to do something for Town Hall. After learning that Gladys had been eager for the scholarship program to continue, the family took action.
